Discover the New “Excavation Museum” at the Acropolis Museum!

Exciting news for TC301 attendees! While you’re in Athens for the International Symposium on the Preservation of Monuments and Historic Sites in September 2026, don’t miss the chance to visit the newly opened “Excavation Museum” at the Acropolis Museum! This new addition, referred to as the “museum under the museum,” showcases the rich archaeological treasures discovered during the Acropolis Museum’s construction and the excavations for the relevant metro station.

It’s a perfect complement to our conference’s focus on heritage conservation and offers a deep experience into the historical layers of the ancient neighborhoods of Athens. It features over 1150 domestic and other objects, some of the thousands that Athenians left behind while living here for over than 4500 years.

We encourage all delegates, students, and heritage enthusiasts to explore this unique addition to Athens’ cultural landscape.
